Big Game Motorsports Pilot Sammy Swindell Off By Less Than One Tenth

Fans,
Fans,

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 16, 2014) – Less than one tenth of a second kept Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell out of the heat race inversion during both World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series races last weekend.

Swindell missed the inversion on Friday at Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., for the Big Game Shootout brought to you by Eyecon Cameras and Big Game Treestands by 0.088 of a second before being 0.067 of a second slow at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.

“When you do that it really makes it tough on your whole night,” he said.

Swindell would have started on the pole of a heat race had the Big Game Treestands car been a tenth of a second quicker both nights. Instead, he lined up seventh in his heat at Jackson Speedway and fifth at Knoxville Raceway.

“On the start of the heat another driver got under me before we took off so I fell back a ways,” Swindell said of Jackson Speedway. “It felt like it was better for us to run the B Main to get more track time.”

After missing a lock-in position by one spot in his heat race, Swindell won the Last Chance Showdown to earn a transfer into the main event. Unfortunately, the track took rubber early and Swindell wasn’t able to make up much ground from his 19th starting position.

“The race track wound up being right around the bottom and there wasn’t any place to go,” he said. “If you weren’t right on the bottom the rest of the track wasn’t where you could use it. Once everybody got single file that was kind of it. We had one of the faster laps of the race, but when you’re stuck on the train you have to ride it out.”

The Big Game Treestands car finished with an 18th-place result.

Swindell also missed locking into the feature through his heat race at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday by one position. However, he placed fourth in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the main event.

“We took it as a test night and tried some things,” he said. “We did some stuff that was a little better in the heat and some other things that were better in the (Last Chance Showdown). We made a big change that was actually worse in the main event. We changed way more things than I usually change in a night.

We changed bars a couple of times and did a few things with the shocks.”

Swindell ended with a 21st-place finish.

Swindell and the Big Game Treestands team will tackle River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., this Friday and I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., on Saturday with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
