Inside Line Promotions – MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (May 19, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell is in a tough spot.

Not only is he coming off a challenging weekend when the Big Game Treestands team lost its primary sprint car, but there isn’t much time to regroup.

Swindell is scheduled to compete with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series on Tuesday at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, N.J., for the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Classic before heading to The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., for the Circle K/NOS Energy Drink Outlaw Showdown on Friday.

The Big Game Treestands team will then haul to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., for a World of Outlaws show next Monday.

“I wish we had some time off so we could get everything back in the direction we were headed,” Swindell said. “When you only had the one car that was different and then you lose it you’re kind of scrambling until you can get it replaced.”

Swindell kicked off a busy week last Wednesday with the Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., by qualifying 11th quickest. He then finished where he started – second – in his heat race to lock himself into the main event.

After starting on the outside of the seventh row for the main event, Swindell was caught up in an incident entering turn one on the second lap that resulted in a destroyed race car.

“I was in the middle and the car on the outside moved down and one on the bottom moved up,” he said. “We bumped wheels and I got on the brakes. It stalled the motor and about the time it got refired was when I got it.”

Several cars crashed into Swindell’s car, which flipped because of the impact. The car was mangled and he was unable to restart the race.

“That was the new car that we changed and seemed to be better,” he said. “The one that we had left in the trailer is one that we ran earlier this year that we seemed to struggle with. That’s just what we had. We can’t seem to get a balance. It’s real touchy and we haven’t been able to find anything. It’s hard to hit it right. That’s part of what we were struggling with before we built this new car.”

The Big Game Treestands team also battled with a fuel issue during the World of Outlaws doubleheader at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on Friday and Saturday.

Swindell finished fifth in the Last Chance Showdown to miss a transfer to the feature by one spot on Friday. He then won the consolation race on Saturday before placing 18th in the main event during the $17,000-to-win Morgan Cup.

“We had some issues when the motor wouldn’t run,” he said. “We finally found part of it was the fuel line was cracked and sucking air. It seemed like we went around the world to find it. It was intermittent so it was hard to find.”

Swindell wrapped up the weekend by finishing 16th on a rubber-down Orange County Fair Speedway on Sunday.
