Battling to 8th at ‘Open’ Finale

Fans,
Fans,

A beautiful day of weather on Friday in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania presented Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they returned to Williams Grove Speedway for another crack at the National Open due to the event being rained out the previous Saturday. After posting the fifth fastest time overall in hotlaps amongst the 53 cars signed in for competition, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ kept the strong start to the night going by piloting the Karavan Trailers Maxim to the 4th fastest time in qualifying at 16.371 seconds. Starting from outside row two in the fourth heat, Dollansky raced past Tim Shaffer and finished 3rd, one shy of a spot in the dash but still a transfer into the main event. With non-dash cars lined up according to their qualifying efforts the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 was mired all the way back in row seven for the 40-lap, $50,000-to-win, A-Main.

When the green flag dropped action stayed green until just after the halfway point when a couple of cars brought out the caution on lap 24 as Dollansky ran just outside the top ten in eleventh. Following a red flag for a fuel stop Dollansky was penalized two rows for having crew members on the track after the allotted two minutes as the Big Game Treestands #7 team replacing the top wing that collapsed earlier in the race. Another caution four laps later and a red flag with seven laps to go would bunch the field up as Dollansky continued to battle his way back towards the front by crossing the finish line 8th. “We had gotten to the top ten when the top wing collapsed on the left front corner and had to run ten laps or so that way making it difficult to drive hoping it wouldn’t come off the car,” commented the Elk River, Minnesota native who recorded his 42nd top-ten of the season. “They changed the wing but didn’t get off the track in time. We definitely could have had a better finish if we wouldn’t have had the trouble we did and had to pass some cars twice after being penalized.” The Big Game Treestands #7 team is back on the gas tonight as they tow north across the border where action continues at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park located just outside of Syracuse, New York. — Check out Craig Dollansky Racing on Facebook and Twitter! www.facebook.com/DollanskyRacing and www.twitter.com/DollanskyRacing
