Sammy Swindell – 3rd in the World of Outlaws Standings

Sammy Swindell captured the 11th podium finish in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series during his storied career with a third-place result in the standings.

Swindell and his Big Game Treestands team claimed a series-best 13 features, which was his most since 1997 – the last time he won the championship. Swindell also led the Outlaws in heat race wins, quick times and qualifying points.

However, a variety of issues leading to DNFs hampered Swindell, who led the series in points for a total of 14 races and as late in the season as July 3.

Swindell’s biggest win of the season came in the $50,000-to-win Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway.

He also picked up victories at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Eagle Raceway, Grays Harbor Raceway, Castrol Raceway, River Cities Speedway, Autodrome Granby, Lakeside Speedway, Red River Valley Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, Missouri State Fair Speedway and Merced Speedway.

Swindell began the season garnering the overall title at the 41st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

Congratulations to Sammy Swindell and his team on a great 2012 season with the World of Outlaws.
