Track History

Bristol Motor Speedway, formerly known as Bristol International Raceway and Bristol Raceway, is a NASCAR short track venue located in Bristol, Tennessee. Constructed in 1960, it held its first NASCAR race on July 30, 1961. In both 2000 and 2001, the track was temporarily converted to a dirt track to host the World of Outlaws Channellock Challenge. The conversion involved moving 8,000 cubic feet (230 m3) of red clay onto the track's surface.
