iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series Race Preview: Eldora

World of Outlaws Late Model iRacing

As the 2023 iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series campaign begins to wind down, Eldora Speedway plays host to the eighth round of the season. As always, Monday’s action can be seen live starting at 9 p.m. (ET) on DIRTVision and at twitch.tv/iracing.

Last Race: After a midseason stumble knocked him back in the standings, 2019 series champion Blake Matjoulis returned to his winning ways at Williams Grove Speedway with a dominant performance last Monday. As defending champion and points leader Evan Seay, Matjoulis’ teammate, battled with other 2023 race winners Logan Rumsey and Kendal Tucker, Matjoulis had plenty left in the tank to execute a perfect final restart in the closing laps to take the victory.

Last Year: After back-to-back runner-up finishes to start the 2022 season, Seay finally broke through for his first victory of the championship-winning campaign in last year’s Eldora round. After battling with Hayden Cardwell for the lead, he finally got it on Lap 42 as the two tangled, survived a pair of cautions in the final 10 laps, and beat Dylan Yeager to the line by just under a second.

Track Facts: Eldora Speedway is probably one of dirt racing’s best-known tracks to those who spend more time with other forms of racing, as track owner Tony Stewart has brought many of American racing’s biggest stars to Rossburg, Ohio for events of all types. But since 1954, “The Big E” has built a reputation for hosting premier sprint car and late model events. The clay half-mile first hosted its most famous late model event, the Dirt Late Model Dream, in 1994—and last year’s Eldora Million saw Jonathan Davenport take home a whopping $1,002,022 prize for the victory.

Next Race: Following Eldora, the iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series takes Labor Day off before returning to action at Lincoln Speedway on Monday, Sept. 11. As Lincoln debuted on iRacing in December of last year, it wasn’t a part of the 2022 schedule, giving drivers one more opportunity to make their presence known on an unfamiliar circuit.
