World of Outlaws Determined to Return to the Dirt Track at Route 66 in 2019

CONCORD, NC — Sept. 7, 2018 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Chi-Town Showdown, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 12-13 at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 has been cancelled in order to accommodate the rain date for the 48th annual World 100. The Series is currently working with track owner Sherri Heckenast on a 2019 date.

In true dirt camaraderie and in the interest of the sport, the Series and Heckenast worked with Eldora Speedway to adjust dates and allow World of Outlaws drivers to participate in the rescheduled World 100.

“Sherri and the entire Route 66 staff and I are committed to starting a great tradition there,” said World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Director Matt Curl, “and we want to find the best possible date in 2019 to begin this.”

Curl and Heckenast are currently working on a date for next year’s schedule, which will be announced later this season.

Due to persistent rains and likely storms, the World 100 will now run on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13. After the 2018 Late Model World 100 Champion has done his rooftop dance, the Ultimate Racing Weekend will continue on Sunday with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Eldora will close out its racing season with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, as planned, with The Last Call For Them All, on Sunday, October 14.
