World of Outlaw History: For the past three years, David Gravel has finished third in the Series Championship Point Standings in the CJB Motorsports No. 5 machine.
After an eye-opening 18 wins during the 2017 season, last season may have been a bit disappointing, but five wins and 54 top tens in nothing to scoff at.
This year, Gravel steps into the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41 car, hoping for a career best — and he already has two wins in just 11 starts.
In 2017, Gravel became the first driver in 25 years to score a perfect score at the Knoxville Nationals. And in 2016, his first year with CJB Motorsports, he improved from a winless season, taking nine more checkered flags and earning 36 more top-five performances.
Gravel is the 2013 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year. The young driver has made select starts with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series since 2008. He scored his first series win in 2011 at the Talladega (AL) Short Track.
He joined Roth Motorsports in the middle of the 2014 season and then transitioned to Destiny Motorsports midway through 2015.
Previous Racing History: Gravel ran full-time with the All Star Circuit of Champions for three seasons from 2009 to 2012. He finished third in the championship standings in 2009, 2011 and 2012… In 2010, Gravel was named the Knoxville Nationals Rookie of the Year… After winning two United Racing Company (URC) features in 2008, Gravel became the youngest feature winner in the history of the series… Gravel has extensive experience and success in quarter midget racing.
“If you want to be a dirt track racer for a living, you have to race with the Outlaws. It’s the premier dirt track racing series, and everybody wants to be like Steve Kinser or Sammy Swindell.”
