Rain Cancels Night 1 with the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove

The Summer Nationals will become a one-day event with Saturday’s show

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — July 20, 2012 — Persistent rain forced World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and Williams Grove Speedway officials to cancel Friday’s opening round of the 11th annual Summer Nationals.

Saturday’s event remains intact. The front gate is scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m. with racing around 7:30 p.m.

The World of Outlaws and Pennsylvania Posse split a doubleheader earlier this season at Williams Grove Speedway. Posse veteran Fred Rahmer claimed the opener on May 11 with 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser winning the feature on May 12, along with coveted Morgan Cup event that followed.

Tony Stewart Racing Teams Ready To Take On ‘Pennsylvania Posse’

INDIANAPOLIS (July 19, 2012) – The road doesn’t get any easier for Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz this weekend. After last weekend’s 29th annual Kings Royal and Tuesday’s Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, each of which attracts more than 40 World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series competitors to slug it out on its famed dirt ovals, Kinser and Schatz now return to hostile territory for three nights of racing. It’s back to legendary Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the two-night Summer Nationals Friday and Saturday, and then a Sunday stop at Lebanon (N.Y.) Valley Speedway.

Outlaws Eye Ironman

Outlaws Ready for Action at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55

Seven of the top eight World of Outlaws have won at the high-banked track

PEVELY, Mo. — July 20, 2012 — Ironman.

It’s quickly become a signature event on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series because of the fast-paced, action-packed racing at the high-banked, third-mile Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

“It’s always a big action track,” said Sammy Swindell, who has won at the track three times. “There’s usually a lot of cars running close together. It’s small enough that you never really get away from people, so it’s a tough race. If you’re not racing with somebody, you’re in traffic with somebody. You’ve got to be on your toes the whole time there.”

This year’s Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 presented by Summit Distributing/Coors Light is set for Saturday, Aug. 4. The 55 feature laps are the most of any event on the World of Outlaws this season.

Dollansky Conquers Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville

NASCAR’s Tony Stewart earns his second career World of Outlaws feature victory

SARVER, Pa. — July 17, 2012 — Conservative was a little harder than Craig Dollansky anticipated on a humid Tuesday evening at Lernerville Speedway.

Dollansky climbed from his sprint car in Victory Lane, visibly exhausted after a pair of 30-lap, $10,000-to-win features at the 21st annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Presented by GottaRace.com. After he and NASCAR star Tony Stewart split the main event victories, Dollansky was declared the overall champion because he had a higher average finish than Stewart.

“With all the stuff that went on in the first one, I really just wanted to try to run a conservative race but get us a decent finish out of it to win the overall title,” Dollansky said after earning the $5,000 bonus and talking to the television cameras for the event, which is scheduled to air on SPEED on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 1 p.m. (Eastern).

“That wasn’t easily done. There was a lot going on back there. You definitely had to go into survival mode a little bit.”
