Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws Late Model Series event? Series Announcer Ruben Mireles will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.
This week: Alabama Gang 100 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, April 25-26
RUBEN’S FIVE:
Ryan Gustin
Why: Gustin has had major success at Talladega Short Track, winning the Ice Bowl in 2024. Gustin also finished third in the inaugural Alabama Gang 100. The Iowan has paid his dues testing and racing in the southern red dirt, which has been paying dividends. Gustin comes into the weekend tied for second once again with Hoffman, but there are big nights ahead for the Cooney Motorsports team as Talladega and Mississippi Thunder Speedway are two of his strongest tracks on the calendar.
Sam Seawright
Why: When at Talladega, never count out the most recent Ice Bowl champion. Seawright earned his career-best World of Outlaws finish at Smoky Mountain Speedway earlier this year and has shown tremendous speed this year against stiff competition.
Tanner English
Why: Celebrating his one-year anniversary with Coltman Farms Racing this weekend, English placed a solid second-place run during the inaugural Alabama Gang 100. Racing is a team effort and during this week Tanner had a crew member depart the team. While that may be a negative you always have to look at the positive. His father, Terry English, a former Ice Bowl champion, is back with the team this weekend. The father-son duo can be a lethal combination to watch this weekend.
Chris Madden
Why: Hoosier Racing Tire introduced a new tire after Farmer City Raceway and if there’s one driver that knows how to save tires it’s Chris Madden. One hundred laps is a long time around Talladega Short Track and Madden always finds himself in prime position to be a threat in long distance Features. Madden’s last outing with the Outlaws wasn’t spectacular so expect a huge turnaround this weekend where Team 22, Inc. found themselves victorious during a preliminary Feature a year ago.
Drake Troutman
Why: The MD3 Rookie of the Year points leader comes into the weekend fourth in the standings. Troutman came close to his first career World of Outlaws victory at Farmer City Raceway. Troutman has found a good home at Team 22, Inc and continues to impress with strong runs. With momentum and Madden as a teammate to learn from the sky is the limit for Troutman.
You can follow these drivers and more all weekend at Talladega Short Track, April 25-26, by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch every lap live – with Ruben Mireles – on DIRTVision.
