Rookie contender’s hard work earns respect of Sprint Car Racing’s superstars
CONCORD, N.C. — June 9, 2011 — The next time you’re in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series pit area getting autographs at the end of the night, you’ll probably see several pristine race haulers parked side by side. As you move from driver to driver, you’ll see the fully decked out transporters with video screens and polished cabinetry that teams like Tony Stewart Racing and Kasey Kahne Racing use. Keep going and you’ll find a white Freightliner, model year 1994, adorned with the initials “BRR” and the proper Department of Transportation insignias. That rig is connected to an equally white trailer from 1986. (Paul Arch photo)
Jason Meyers Races Like Wind in Kansas
The State of Kansas is named after the Indian tribe which used to inhabit the land, the Kansa. The tribe’s name means “people of the wind,” which is fitting with all the fast paced racing action the state saw this weekend. Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team had to race like the wind over the weekend to score two top-5 finishes. First up was the team’s first visit to the Belleville Highbanks, before the team traveled to Lakeside Speedway in the heart of Kansas City.
TSR Tandem Looks for Success at Knoxville
INDIANAPOLIS (June 8, 2011) – In the world of Sprint car racing, Knoxville Raceway is reminiscent of famed venues like Yankee Stadium, Boston Garden and Lambeau Field. It’s more than just a racetrack. There’s history, tradition and some times intimidation. The half-mile dirt oval located in central Iowa annually hosts the sport’s premiere event, the Knoxville Nationals, each August. And for every driver in the sport, every lap around that track means something. This weekend, the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series will contest the Mediacom Shootout, a two-night program that is the only stop at the track prior to this year’s Nationals.
Kinser Adds Another Outlaw Win
The World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series spent a pair nights racing in Kansas last weekend and, despite numerous obstacles, Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz were able to continue their climb in the championship standings. Kinser earned his fifth victory of the season Saturday night in the TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/ Chevrolet Maxim at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City. Schatz turned in a pair of respectable finishes at Belleville (Kan.) High Banks on Friday and Lakeside Saturday night behind the wheel of the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet J&J. Team owner Tony Stewart, who competed in NASCAR’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, joined Kinser and Schatz in the field at Lakeside and finished 12th.

Runner-up finish last weekend sparks confidence for defending track champion
CONCORD, N.C. — June 7, 2011 — The yellow flag waved over the field with nine laps to go in the Kansas City Shootout on Saturday night at Lakeside (Kan.) Speedway. Brian Brown had led from the green flag. He was seeking his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory. Now, facing a double-file restart alongside legend Steve Kinser, he had a decision to make: Do I go to the top and hope I can carry the momentum around the half-mile oval, or do I line up on the bottom and try to get out in front of Kinser?
