INDIANAPOLIS (March 30, 2011) – For the first time in eight seasons, the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series stars have spent an early portion of their season competing in the Golden State. This weekend, the traveling Outlaws are set to conclude their five-race tour of California with an inaugural race at Merced (Calif.) Speedway on Friday and a return to the picturesque Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway on Saturday. Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz are each looking to race their way to victory and finish the California tour with some momentum.

California Confidence: With hometown support Meyers closes in on first victory of 2011
One has been referred to as being the loneliest number, but in the racing world it can sometimes be the most elusive number. For Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team, it took several close calls for them to win their first World of Outlaws Series title, but they took that number one spot last season. The champions have had a slow start to the 2011 season, but this weekend they made some gains towards taking their first victory of the season in front of their hometown crowd. Unfortunately, rain would get in the way at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. But at Thunderbowl Raceway, Meyers came within 0.419 of a second from celebrating in Victory Lane.

HANFORD, Calif. – March 18, 2011 – World of Outlaws champion and California native Jason Meyers was in the pole position for the feature event on Friday night at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway when rain began to fall, forcing officials to postpone the conclusion of the event.
