World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Returning to Tucson, Perris in Spring

Season launches in Florida at UNOH DIRTcar Nationals, heads west for March

CONCORD, N.C. — Nov. 17, 2011 — Over the past 34 years, eight different drivers have won a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship, spanning from Steve Kinser’s first of 20 titles in 1978 to Jason Meyers’ two most recent crowns in 2010 and ’11. At the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals in February at Volusia Speedway Park, ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ will launch its 35th season and begin its annual journey across North America with a busy spring schedule.

‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ now sets sights on 41st UNOH DIRTcar Nationals

CONCORD, N.C — November 14, 2011 — What a difference a year can make. The 2010 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series title race would go down as one of the most exciting in history as four drivers entered in season ending Lowes Foods World Finals presented by Tom’s Snacks, Coca-Cola and Natures Own with a four drivers having a mathematical shot at the title. In 2011, however, Jason Meyers didn’t want to leave near as much to chance. When the series rolled into the Dirt Track at Charlotte last November, Meyers held a 96 point advantage over four-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz. Meyers captured the title in dramatic fashion by sweeping the final two races of the season. Flash forward one year and the driver of the #14 DDNi/Media-Tile/GLR Investments/All-Star Performance KPC was atop the series points standings once again but by over 240 markers this year. After riding the strength of one of the most impressive winning streaks in recent World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series history, Meyers solidified his position in the series history books by becoming only the fifth driver to win multiple titles.

Champions of Character: Elite Racing Captures Back-to-Back World of Outlaws titles

Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. A victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character” (T. Alan Armstrong). A season that encompasses ten months of racing action can be very grueling. Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team may have not been a favorite to take back-to-back titles after the first five months of racing action, but they used that time to grow stronger. Then in July, the hours of work the team had put in became apparent. During those final five months is when the victories came and the true character of the team showed. Through togetherness and hard work, this weekend Meyers became just the fourth driver in World of Outlaws history to win back-to-back titles.

CONCORD, N.C — November 7, 2011 — For only the fifth time in World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series history, a driver has won multiple championships. Clovis, Calif. native Jason Meyers continued to impress as he won his second consecutive title in dominating fashion. Meyers led the series in pole positions, laps led, Quick Time’s, Top-5’s and Top-10’s. Meyers also tied Craig Dollansky and Steve Kinser for the most wins on the season with nine.

Schatz Sweeps Lowes Foods World Finals at Dirt Track at Charlotte

Meyers officially crowned champion of 2011 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series

CONCORD, N.C — November 5, 2011 — Donny Schatz put an exclamation point on the 2011 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season Saturday night. A four time series champion, Schatz won the final two races of the season at the Lowes Foods World Finals presented by Tom’s Snacks, Coca-Cola and Nature’s Own at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Schatz backed up his dominating performance on Friday with an exciting restart pass on Kerry Madsen in the season finale.
