5-Hour Knoxville Nationals Nears

CONCORD, NC — July 17, 2017 — When a race fan hears “Knoxville” one thing immediately comes to mind: the 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals, the largest Sprint Car event held annually at Knoxville Raceway in early August, this year from August 9-12.

The small town of Knoxville that sits 40 miles southeast of the state capitol of Iowa has a population of just over 7,000 people. When the the racing industry descends on this small town, the population nearly triples for what is referred to as the “Super Bowl” of 410 Sprint Car racing at Knoxville Raceway.

Drivers set for physically challenging Ironman 55 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55

CONCORD, NC — July 14, 2017 — Drivers and teams look to be the strongest of them all when the Ironman 55 is all said and done. A two-night event on Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri is the longest Feature event of the year on the 90-plus events schedule for the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series.

Although the Series has been running at the tough bullring since 1987, it was in 2009 that a new challenge at the Pevely, MO track was born: a 55-lap feature event called the Ironman 55, a race that is longer in distance than all other Sprint car races on the schedule.

Schatz Dominates Kings Royal at Eldora

Donny Schatz Dominates 34th Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway

Makes History as First Back-to-Back Winner of the Prestigious Event

ROSSBURG, OH – July 15, 2017 – Donny Schatz turned in a perfect score card and walked away with a $50,000 check after dominating the 34th annual Kings Royal for the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series at Eldora Speedway on Saturday night. Schatz set fast time in qualifying and then won his heat from the fifth starting position following the traditional Kings Royal heat race inversion.

Schatz’s win in Heat 1 put him sixth on the starting grid. He wasted no time at all jumping forward. He took the lead from polesitter and Kings Royal rookie Cole Duncan on lap 14 and never looked back. Schatz lead was as big as six seconds and he crossed the finish line 3.966 seconds ahead of teammate Christopher Bell.

7/15/17 – Eldora Speedway

ROSSBURG, OH – July 15, 2017 – Donny Schatz made history in the 34th annual Kings Royal when the driver of the No.15 Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing took the lead on lap 14 and led the final 27 laps to become the first back-to-back winner in Kings Royal history. Schatz took the lead from polesitter and Kings Royal rookie Cole Duncan and never looked back as he dominated a caution-free Feature and won by over three seconds. Schatz’ teammate for the night, Christopher Bell, drove from 20th to a second-place finish. Brad Sweet completed a weekend streak of podium finishes with a third-place run.
