Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws Late Model Series event? Series Announcer Ruben Mireles will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.
This week: World of Outlaws Connor Billy Winn Classic at Bedford Speedway on May 18
RUBEN’S FIVE:
Bobby Pierce
Why: After a perfect night at Bedford last night at Marion Center Raceway, Pierce enters Bedford as the defending winner of this event. Pierce not only won the feature last night but backed it up with a clean sweep. He earned the Dirt King Simulators Fastest Hot Lap, his first Simpson Performance Products Quick Time of the season, and the Heat win. This time last year, Pierce only had one win entering the OH/PA swing. This year, Pierce earned his fourth on the swing. The current points leader knows he needs to perform because Hoffman and Gustin are within striking distance in the standings.
Drake Troutman
Why: The current MD3 Rookie of the Year point leader raced a Stock Car here on Friday night after out rainout at Marion Center. The Outlaws enter Troutman’s playground tonight. Cutting his teeth here in his DIRTcar UMP Modified, Troutman has the speed along with the experience to go on a $20,000 Sunday night cruise back home.
Ryan Gustin
Why: Gustin mentioned to me that they have been stagnant when it comes feature time during the past month. With two wins on the year, Gustin had a great feature run at Marion Center last night not looking like they found some speed during the feature. Gustin finished third at Bedford a year ago and finding speed at the right time as we race one of the fastest tracks on the calander.
Rick Eckert
Why: It’s always nice when you get to see past World of Outlaws Champions join the field. The 2011 Champion Rick Eckert has collected a handful of victories to kick off 2025 season and is fifth on the all-time wins list at Bedford with 24 wins.
Mason Zeigler
Why: Fresh off his 2024 Keystone Cup victory at Bedford Speedway “Ziggy” has proved he’s good at the big tracks. With a prelim win at the DIRT Late Model DREAM at Eldora in 2017, Mason also won with the Outlaws at Port Royal in 2019. Pennsylvania has a lot of amazing talent and Zeigler is one of them!
You can follow these drivers and more all weekend by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch every lap live – with Ruben Mireles – on DIRTVision.
