Dollansky Charges Past Meyers to Claim 8th Win of 2011

Elk River, Minn. native uses high side to power past series points leader

ALGER. Wash. — Sept. 2, 2011 — Craig Dollansky and his Big Game Treestands team are back in victory lane after a month of hard fought battles and frustrations. Having come off their 7th win of the season in the grueling Ironman 55 at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo. Before the 51st Goodyear Knoxville Nationals, the team tried some different combinations when it came to their setup and the results just didn’t match up their prior success. With the Outlaws kicking off their second West Coast swing, the team returned to their winning combination and picked up their 8th win of 2011.

“We tried quite a few different things after Pevely (I-55 Raceway) and I think tonight is the first time we’ve been in the dash since then,” Dollansky said. “We finally got our setup’s back to where they were and what a difference it made. We set Quick Time on the night and won this race. The track was awesome tonight because it really opened up on the top and bottom. I’ve got to thank my crew, Big Game Treestands, Aggressive Hydraulics, Aeroquip and Karavan Trailers. It’s always a team effort when you win. We dug ourselves into a hole as far as the points go earlier on in the season during that first swing in Canada. Now we’re trying to catch up and put as many wins on the board as we can.”

In order to pick up his series leading 8th win of the season, Dollansky had to make his way from the fourth starting spot when the green flag dropped. After several early cautions and red flag periods, points leader Jason Meyers appeared to have victory well at hand until Dollansky began to gain on the 2010 Series Champion and eventually passed him on lap 23.

“I gave this one away tonight,” said a disappointed Meyers. “We led earlier on and my crew gave me an awesome car. It was just on me tonight. I want to thank our partners DDNi/Media-Tile/Allstar Performance and GLR Investments. My parents are out here so hopefully we can rebound from this and go after the win again tomorrow night.”

Behind Meyers, a fierce battle was waged for the third position which saw 20-time Champion Steve Kinser prevail to pick up his second third place finish in a row.

“The track was a little rough tonight so you had to pick your spots,” said Kinser, driver of the #11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/Chevrolet. “There were quite a few accidents early on so you had to pick your way through them as best you could.”

Owner-driver Jason Sides started the night’s 30 lap feature on the pole position and battled with Meyers for most of the race before being passed by Dollansky and Kinser to finish fourth. Paul McMahan was the highest finishing Kasey Kahne Racing machine as he brought his #83 Roth Motorsports/HR Cattle Maxim home in the fifth position.

The Outlaws will complete their weekend at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. on Saturday, September 3 before they head to Cottage Grove (Ore.) Speedway on Monday, September 5.
