Saldana Searching for First World of Outlaws Win in Bloomington

‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ returns to the quarter-mile track on Friday, Aug. 3

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — July 21, 2012 — When Joey Saldana saw last year’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule, a unique race stood out.

The Outlaws returned to Bloomington Speedway – a quarter-mile track a little more than an hour from his home – for the first time in 12 seasons. However, three weeks prior to the race Saldana sustained a devastating injury, which sidelined him for a couple of months.

Saldana is healthy as the World of Outlaws head back to Bloomington Speedway on Friday, Aug. 3.

7/21/2012 – Williams Grove Speedway

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — July 21, 2012 — Pennsylvania native Cody Darrah led all 30 laps to pick up his first World of Outlaws feature victory of the season at the 11th annual Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway.

Jason Sides held off Greg Hodnett for the runner-up position, while several top-10 drivers rallied from the back of the field. Lucas Wolfe charged from 22nd to sixth, Steve Kinser from 23rd to seventh, Kerry Madsen from 27th to ninth and Cory Haas from 21st to 10th. Madsen earned the KSE Hard Charger Award as seven drivers passed more than 10 cars during the feature. (CLICK FOR FULL RACE REPORT)

Veteran Star Stands As Only Home-Grown Talent To Win Their State’s Biggest Dirt Late Model Event

NEW RICHMOND, WI – July 20, 2012 – If a dirt Late Model driver from Wisconsin wants to know what it feels like to emerge as a home-grown winner of their state’s biggest event, they must consult Jimmy Mars. He is, after all, the only Dairyland racer who has captured the prestigious U.S. Steel USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Mars, 40, of Menomonie, Wis., will tell his fellow Wisconsinites that there’s nothing more exciting than winning the 100-lap USA Nationals, which celebrates its milestone 25th annual running at the end of a three-day extravaganza of speed on Aug. 2-4.
