Lincoln Speedway Event Completes ‘Six Pack’ of May Northeast Races
‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ returns to Pennsylvania track for first time since 1998; officials need fans to name race through Facebook contest
CONCORD, N.C. — Jan. 20, 2012 — The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is returning to Pennsylvania’s Lincoln Speedway May 9 for the first time since 1998, kicking off a “Six Pack” of Northeastern events in May that includes two nights at Williams Grove Speedway plus events at Rolling Wheels Raceway, Orange County Fair Speedway and Hagerstown Speedway.
The Lincoln race adds to the intense rivalry between the Outlaws and the Pennsylvania Posse, a rivalry that reaches deep into Sprint Car lore. Pennsylvania superstar Fred Rahmer was the last driver to win a World of Outlaws race at Lincoln, accomplishing the feat 14 years ago at the historic track. The Outlaws first raced at Lincoln during the series’ inaugural 1978 season. Steve Kinser, the King of the Outlaws with 570 main event victories and 20 championships, has won 13 of the 36 World of Outlaws feature events in Lincoln’s history.
