RACE REPORT: Dude Doubles Up At Calistoga

Danny Lasoski came close to sweeping the Harvest Classic last season at Calistoga Speedway in California, winning the preliminary feature and following that up with a second-place performance in the finale. After winning the opener this year on Saturday night, he was determined to sweep the weekend and did just that on Sunday night, as he picked up $10,000 for winning the finale of the event.

Every sprint car driver that hails from California dreams of one day winning the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway. Jonathan Allard is no different. The native of Chico took a big step in that direction on Thursday night as he won the preliminary feature on the first qualifying night of the famed event and took the lead in the overall event point standings, with the other half of the field to compete on Friday night.

RACE REPORT: Saldana Wins Second Night of Gold Cup Night

Joey Saldana surprised himself on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in the second qualifying night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions. Lining up 12th for the preliminary feature on the high-banked ¼-mile, he would have been happy to have earned a Top-Five finish to put himself in a good position for the finale on Saturday night. He took that one step further, winning a thrilling dual with Steve Kinser in the closing laps of the 30-lap contest.

RACE REPORT: Schatz Wins the Arnold Motor Supply “Shootout” at the Clay County Fair

Donny Schatz didn’t recognize Clay County Fair Speedway when he walked through the pit gates on Wednesday afternoon. The last time he had raced at the track located in Spencer, Iowa was over 10 years ago, when the then sprawling half-mile was predominately used for horse racing. He took a quick liking to the new 3/8-mile high-banked surface on Wednesday night as he claimed his 15th A-Feature win of the season in the Arnold Motor Supply “Shootout” at the Clay County Fair before a crowd of well over 7,000 spectators.

RACE REPORT: Schatz Wins at Heartland Park Topeka

Donny Schatz was the first winner at the permanent 3/8-mile track at Heartland Park Topeka in 2001, after the World of Outlaws had competed a couple of times on a temporary track constructed on the drag strip of the state-of-the-art facility. In the World of Outlaws return to Heartland Park Topeka on Friday night for the first time since 2002, Schatz became the first repeat winner, earning $10,000 for picking up his second consecutive victory this week.
